Learn about the committee
Signpost has a committee of around 8 people, made up of parents and professionals. The committee are all volunteers and bring a wide range of experience to the organisation.
The main purpose of the committee is to oversee the work of the project and to provide a vision and a direction for the organisation, in line with its objectives, which are to help disabled children and their families to get the information and support they need to make the most of their opportunities, and to raise awareness of their needs. On a day-to-day basis the project managers manage the workload, but committee members are responsible for ensuring that finances are handled appropriately, funds are raised to continue the organisation's work, and that activities are appropriate.
Membership of the committee offers access to training, an opportunity to learn new management skills and a chance to make new friends. However, no formal experience is required - a genuine interest in our work and willingness to learn are more important than qualifications. We are always interested to hear from potential new committee members - if you would like to know more, please contact the office on 01506 431 123.
