Help us to help others
this page still under development....
As a very small, local charity, we are very grateful for the support we receive from people outside the organisation. This support is crucial, as demand for our service is growing but in common with other charities, we rely on grants and trust fund donations from year to year to continue the service. Raising money diverts staff from the essential work of helping families, so help from others is very important.
There are many ways to help Signpost - you can make a donation, volunteer your time, or hold a fund-raising event. Below are some suggestions about simple but effective ways to support us.
Give a donation to Signpost. Unfortunately, we do not yet have the facility to do this on-line, but you can write a cheque, or a Postal Order, payable to 'Signpost', and send it to Signpost, FREEPOST NAT9123, Livingston, EH54 5BR (no stamp required).
Small, regular donations are one of the best ways to help, as they give us a regular, predictable income and help us to control our budget. Please ask us for a standing order form, which will enable you to automatically transfer an amount from your bank account to ours each month. As little as £2 per month can be enormously helpful to us.
Regular tax-free donations can also be given through Give As You Earn, which deducts money from your salary before it reaches you - go on, you'll never miss those few pounds a month, but they're invaluable to us! See www.giveasyouearn.org for more detail. (NB This site relates to English charities, but is valid for Scottish ones too).
GiftAid it! If you are a tax-payer, the Inland Revenue will give us 28p extra for every pound you donate, simply because you filled in a simple form - please ask us for a form. Costs you nothing, but turns £100 into £128 - who says we hate the tax office? Fill in the form now!
Significant birthday coming up? Looking forward to a party, but don't need presents? Why not ask for donations instead - the effects of Signpost last longer than a bottle of bubble bath or expensive chocolates!
Need to get fit? Aim to run in one of the many fun runs or marathons, and ask friends to sponsor you.
Give yourself! If you can offer your time to Signpost, we would be delighted to talk to you about how best to use your talents to fundraise for us - just call us on 01506 431 123.
Our thanks go to the many individuals and organisations who already support us, or have supported us in the past. Too many to name everyone individually, we would like to thank:
- Everyone who collects small change in a little cardboard box, and sends the result to us when the box is full (would you like a box?)
- Local schools who have a collecting can in their staff-room or front office
- Ian Hodgson, who ran in the New York Marathon for us
- John McKee of Hanover Health, Bioforce Herbal and Jan de Vries, who donated the proceeds of an evening lecture
- West Calder Loyal Orange Lodge 35, and the Loyal Orange Institution, who made a generous donation
- Mid Calder Primary, who donated the proceeds of their 2004 carol concert
- Asda, Gamestation, Homebase, West Lothian Council and Rhona Watt, who contributed to the refurbishment of our new office and resource centre
- Everyone who supported our fundraising efforts by buying Santa letters, plants and bulbs, etc
- Everyone who sent an individual donation - always a lovely surprise!
