Signpost has a Board of Trustees of between 6 and 10 people. The trustees are all volunteers and have a mix of parenting and/or business skills.

The Board oversees the work of the charity and provides a vision and a direction for the organisation, in line with its objectives, which are to help disabled children and their families to get the information and support they need, and to raise awareness of their needs.

On a day-to-day basis, the project managers manage the organisation, but trustees are responsible for ensuring that finances are handled appropriately, funds are raised to continue the organisation's work, and that activities are appropriate to our aims.

Membership of the Board offers access to training, an opportunity to learn new skills and a chance to make new friends. No formal experience is required - a genuine interest in our work and willingness to learn are more important than qualifications.

The key commitments for Board members are:

  • attend a two-hour Board meeting once a month
  • Annual General meeting once a year
  • Staff and Board Development Day once a year

You can also get involved in other ways, such as fundraising and event organisation.

We are always interested to hear from potential new Board members - if you would like to know more, please contact the office on 01506 431123.
